This page was last updated November 20 2025. The site can have synchronization issues, so refresh a few times when opening any page to have the most updated version. Most videos have notes, which can be seen by clicking on the drop-down icon next to each video’s title. You can also turn dark mode on or off anytime on a computer with the shortcut: cmd/ctrl + shift + L , or there may be a button in the top right.
Each video I reference on these pages have notes copied from Summarize.tech, a ChatGPT API, or Gemini. The summary quality ranges from excellent to decent, and rarely poor. There are transcript inaccuracies from time to time, and there’s often immense value in individual sentences or questions that not captured in summaries. The summaries aren’t a replacement to watching the videos, but I have them to help with retention and future recollection.
Here are a few ways I have summarized YouTube videos for this site.
I use this prompt:
Please watch this YouTube video.
I would like a detailed summary with:
An extended paragraph overview of the entire video’s message and themes.
Timestamped summaries for every 5 minutes (e.g., 00:00:00, 00:05:00, etc.). For each time segment, provide a single, comprehensive, dense paragraph, [5-10 sentences depending on the length of the video] sentences or more, that summarizes the key points discussed. Include examples, metaphors, or strategies mentioned in each segment.
Use a neutral, thoughtful tone, with clear and coherent writing, and a target audience of college freshmen.
