Like many other pages on this sites, this page does not sit in isolation. A person’s internal emotional awareness and regulation is closely tied to the environment they grew up in, which makes the Trauma page a great companion here.
I would strongly recommend Dr. K’s Guide to Trauma. I was hoping Dr. K would release some type of ‘Guide for Emotions’ but after going through his Trauma Guide, I realized that’s where he did an Emotions guide.

It’s a concise and thorough look at what emotions are, why we have them, what is happening in our body, issues pertaining to lack of emotional awareness, and importantly, how to enhance emotional awareness and regulation. I believe the Membership is worth the $10, and this is one of the best lectures in my opinion.
